Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly opened the main “Ahlan Madaris 2026” exhibition at the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency’s exhibition hall in Nasr City on Tuesday. The exhibition, which spans across 3,500 square metres, will open to the public tomorrow until September 15, daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., featuring around 168 exhibitors. Products include school uniforms, shoes, bags, stationery, computers, food products and other school-related supplies, with discounts of up to 40% on some items. Prime Minister Madbouly said the government has been keen to to organise exhibitions offering school supplies at affordable prices ahead of the new academic year. He noted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has repeatedly directed the government to expand such exhibitions to enable citizens to purchase a wide range of quality goods and school supplies at discounted prices. He stressed the importance of maintaining and expanding these initiatives across the governorates. The prime minister also described the “Welcome Schools” (Ahlan Madaris) exhibitions as a genuine partnership between the government, private sector and chambers of commerce aimed at serving citizens. He stressed the state’s commitment to providing all possible forms of support to help ease the financial burden on Egyptian families, particularly ahead of the new academic year, while ensuring that students and families can obtain their essential needs at affordable prices. For his part, Minister of Supply Sherif Farouk said the main “Ahlan Madaris 2026” exhibition was being held as part of the implementation of President El-Sisi’s directives to expand specialised initiatives and exhibitions designed to ease the burden on citizens. The ministry is keen to diversify outlets and exhibitions where citizens can purchase goods and products directly, in co-operation with government agencies, the private sector and chambers of commerce, he added. This year’s exhibition features a wide range of products and services, with around 168 exhibitors occupying 3,500 square metres of exhibition space. Products include clothing, footwear, school supplies, bags and leather goods. Farouk noted that the “Ahlan Schools” initiative includes main exhibitions in the governorates’ capitals, as well as smaller exhibitions in major cities and temporary stalls in district centres. The exhibitions are being organised in co-operation between chambers of commerce and governors to ensure that discounted goods reach the largest possible number of citizens. They will run for two weeks, alongside the summer sales season, which has been extended until the end of September. Madbouly toured the exhibition and inspected the various products on display. He reviewed the goods offered by exhibitors and spoke with a number of them about product quality, prices, discounts and the share of local components in the displayed products. The prime minister stressed the importance of supporting government policies aimed at enhancing local manufacturing and increasing reliance on domestically produced goods. The prime minister also inspected displays of strategic commodities and food products offered at discounted prices, including sugar, rice and cooking oil, as well as footwear, bags, clothing, school uniforms, stationery and computers.
