Cairo Int’l Airport holds major emergency safety drill

Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny emphasised that field drills are essential for testing emergency plans. These exercises evaluate response speed, task accuracy, and quick decision-making under pressure. He noted that the complex scenario provided a realistic test covering security, operational, medical, and rescue procedures. El-Hefny added that seamless teamwork among all participating organisations reflects Egypt’s readiness to manage critical situations. By focusing on advanced planning and practical training, state institutions can effectively protect lives and facilities while maintaining smooth airport operations. Chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation Ayman Fawzy Arab stated that the comprehensive drill proved Cairo International Airport’s readiness for extraordinary events. He highlighted the airport’s ability to respond immediately with top-tier efficiency, emphasising that aviation safety and security are fundamental priorities with zero room for compromise. Arab noted that the exercise was a true operational test rather than a routine task, measuring actual response times and inter-agency coordination. Chairman of the Cairo Airport Company Magdy Ishak affirmed that the large-scale drill provided a genuine assessment of readiness and teamwork. He stressed that maintaining safety is both a national and professional responsibility that requires total commitment.
