ALBAWABA - Mert Ramazan Demir and Lizge Cömert face rising tensions in 'Susuz Yaz' first teaser.
Mert Ramazan Demir and Lizge Cömert take center stage in the first teaser for 'Susuz Yaz', Kanal D’s upcoming drama that promises a story of love, family rivalry, and a bitter struggle over water. The teaser, released on October 26, offers the first glimpse of the series, which takes viewers to the rural landscapes of 1970s Adana.
Produced by Ay Yapım, 'Susuz Yaz' is adapted from the work of the same name by Turkish writer Necati Cumalı. Sema Ergenekon wrote the screenplay, while Yusuf Pirhasan and Mehmet Can Bindal share directing duties. The series is preparing to bring Cumalı’s story to television through a cast led by Demir, Cömert, and Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzgüleç.
Water Dispute Sparks Conflict in First Teaser
The first teaser immediately establishes the tension at the heart of the story. Set in Çarlak, a village in Adana, the drama follows people whose lives are shaped by the land they cultivate and the water they need to survive.
One of the teaser’s most striking moments comes when Osman, played by Mert Ramazan Demir, declares, “I will not condemn anyone to a summer without water!” His words trigger a heated exchange with villagers who insist that water belongs to everyone.
The conflict over water appears to be more than a disagreement about access to a basic resource. It sets the stage for a wider struggle over land, power, and the relationships within the village.
The teaser also offers a glimpse of Osman’s determination to build a new life with Bahar, played by Lizge Cömert. In one memorable scene, he brings her home on horseback, suggesting that their love will be central to the story.
However, the atmosphere changes when the teaser turns its attention to Hasan, Osman’s older brother, played by Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzgüleç. His intense expressions hint at hidden motives and growing tension between the brothers. The preview ends with the ominous line, “This girl will be the end of us,” leaving viewers wondering how Bahar’s arrival will affect the family.

According to the series’ official synopsis, Osman and Hasan work their land together to make a living. Their relationship begins to change as Osman falls deeply in love with Bahar and tries to build a future with her.
But Osman’s plans face a serious obstacle in the form of his older brother’s secret ambitions. At the same time, disputes over the ownership and distribution of water and land threaten to deepen divisions throughout the village.
This combination of romance and rivalry gives 'Susuz Yaz' several layers of conflict. Osman’s desire for a new life with Bahar puts his personal happiness at odds with family ties, while the struggle over natural resources raises the stakes for the entire community.
