Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on Friday announced the launch of an upgraded version of its online ticketing platform for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), promising a smoother and more convenient booking experience. The new website adheres to the latest user experience standards, reducing the number of booking steps and offering a simplified interface that allows visitors to complete the booking process quickly and efficiently. The CEO of the GEM Authority, Ahmed Ghoneim, confirmed that the launch of the upgraded platform is part of a strategic initiative to unify the museum’s digital identity by establishing a single official ticketing channel, accessible through the official website. This reflects the museum’s institutional character and enhances user trust. The move aims to provide the utmost digital security for visitors, he said, given reports of several unofficial websites impersonating the museum and promoting the sale of counterfeit tickets. Ghoneim urged all visitors to rely solely on the official link when booking tickets and avoid any unauthorized websites, in order to ensure a safe and seamless experience. The Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Services, Mohamed Shaaban, pointed out that repeated attempts to create fake pages on domains similar to the commercial domain (.com) have prompted the shift to using the official national domain (.eg), which enjoys government credibility.
