The move completes the update of the airport’s official identity and ensures a unified presence across global aviation and travel systems. The new code will appear on booking systems, travel tickets, baggage tags, and various systems used by airlines and travel agencies. This will make the airport’s identity clearer to passengers and make it easier to search for flights to and from Alexandria across different travel platforms. The adoption of the ALY code follows the decision to rename Borg El Arab International Airport as Alexandria International Airport, along with the subsequent update of the airport’s related data and codes. This creates consistency between its official name and its identity across international aviation systems. The change is an important step toward unifying the airport’s international identity and presenting Alexandria more clearly on the air transport map. It also reflects the city’s position as a tourism and economic destination and provides airlines and passengers from different markets with a clearer representation of the airport. As one of the airports operated by the Egyptian Airports Company, Alexandria International Airport’s new code reflects the company’s approach, under the leadership of Captain Wael el-Nashar, to updating the international identity of its airports and keeping pace with global aviation systems.
