Egypt, Equatorial Guinea pledge to deepen ties

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, reaffirmed on Saturday Cairo’s commitment to strengthening relations with Equatorial Guinea to better serve the shared interests of both nations. The remarks were made during a telephone conversation between Minister Abdel-Aati and Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Simeon Oyono Esono. The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on several African issues of mutual concern. Abdel-Aati praised the positive momentum in Egyptian-Equatorial Guinean relations in recent years, stressing the importance of building on this progress to deepen cooperation across various sectors. Specifically, he underlined the need to boost economic and trade co-operation by encouraging Egyptian companies to participate in development projects in Equatorial Guinea. He also noted that Egypt will continue to support capacity-building and knowledge transfer through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding, and other national institutions. Moreover, Abdel-Aati highlighted preparations for the upcoming El Alamein-Africa Forum, scheduled for June on the sidelines of the African Union Mid-Year Co-ordination Summit, and expressed hope that companies from Equatorial Guinea would participate. The two ministers exchanged assessments on recent developments across the continent. They underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation to support joint African action and promote peace, security, and sustainable development.
