Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gamblat held a meeting with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development Bahaa El-Ghannam to discuss expanding cooperation in support of national projects and strengthening Egypt’s food security system. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Military Production’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, also explored ways to enhance services provided to citizens and support the country’s sustainable development efforts. Gamblat said the Ministry of Military Production possesses a robust industrial and technological base comprising around 260 production lines, in addition to accredited laboratories, advanced operational capabilities and highly qualified personnel. He noted that the ministry has advanced capabilities in manufacturing fully and semi-automated bakeries to support the state’s efforts to modernise the bread production system. It also manufactures and installs water and submersible pumps for infrastructure, water and irrigation projects, as well as electricity generators to support national energy projects and diversify energy sources. Gamblat said the current phase focuses on directing surplus production capacity towards priority national projects while maximising the use of the ministry’s manufacturing capabilities. He added that cooperation also extends to civilian products manufactured by Military Production companies to meet domestic market demand and support supply systems. This contributes to deepening local manufacturing, increasing added value, reducing reliance on imports, enhancing industrial competitiveness and supporting the national economy. According to Gamblat, cooperation with the Ministry of Supply and the Future of Egypt Authority covers the development of several systems that can benefit from the ministry’s manufacturing, engineering, production, equipment and maintenance capabilities. The partnership also aims to improve supply chain efficiency, strengthen food security and enhance services related to the provision of essential commodities. It includes the development of AI-powered digital platforms to improve government services and optimise manufacturing processes within Military Production companies, including call centres, to accelerate response times and improve operational efficiency and service quality. Farouk said the meeting reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening integration among national institutions and making greater use of domestic manufacturing capabilities in implementing strategic projects. He described the cooperation between the Ministry of Supply, the Ministry of Military Production and the Future of Egypt Authority as a model of institutional integration, particularly in areas related to food security, infrastructure for the production, distribution and storage of commodities, and localising manufacturing to reduce dependence on imported components and production inputs. Farouk said discussions covered several priority areas, including upgrading bread production lines and improving their efficiency, exploring cooperation to develop the ration card system, and modernising main and field silos to increase storage capacity and enhance grain handling and storage. He added that establishing a factory to produce bleaching earth used in edible oil refining is another key area of cooperation aimed at localising production inputs for the edible oils industry. Farouk stressed that the ministry is keen to translate the agreed areas of cooperation into implementation programmes with clear timetables while maintaining close coordination among the three entities to maximise national capabilities and ensure the sustainability of Egypt’s food security system. El-Ghannam said the Future of Egypt Authority is committed to supporting domestic industry and increasing the use of locally manufactured products and components across its projects. He added that the Authority aims to leverage the capabilities of Military Production factories to meet the needs of major national projects, helping to localise industry, increase local content and advance sustainable development. El-Ghannam said the Authority plans to expand cooperation with Military Production companies and factories, in partnership with the private sector, to supply the requirements of its projects, particularly in centre-pivot irrigation systems, spare parts and maintenance, solar panels and technologies for the utilisation of agricultural waste. He said these efforts would strengthen integration between the private sector and the Ministry of Military Production while supporting the implementation of major national projects. The meeting concluded with an agreement to further expand cooperation among the three entities to support citizens, deepen local manufacturing, maximise the use of national production capabilities, localise modern technologies and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry.
