All of this pushed the Israelis to escalate at a politically sensitive moment internally. Nevertheless, contacts between Lebanon, Israel, and the United States did not stop because there is no other option, at least for Lebanon, except the diplomatic negotiation path that the political leadership in Lebanon, headed by President Joseph Aoun, sees as the only one to save Lebanon from the endless cycle of wars, especially since those who oppose direct negotiations and the trilateral framework agreement have so far failed to provide logical and convincing alternatives that protect Lebanon and prevent it from remaining hostage to external conflicts and interests.
