Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned what it described as a “terrorist attack” targeting the Barakah nuclear power plant using drones launched from Iraqi territory. In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack in the strongest terms, calling it a grave threat to regional security and stability. The ministry said the attack constitutes a serious breach of international law and represents a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty and airspace. It emphasised that such acts undermine international peace and security and warned against the dangers of escalating tensions in the region. The UAE urged the Iraqi government to take immediate and decisive measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks and to address threats posed by non-state actors operating within its territory. The statement stressed the importance of holding perpetrators accountable in accordance with international law.Highlighting the broader implications, the ministry reaffirmed that attacks of this nature jeopardise not only national security but also regional stability and global energy infrastructure. The UAE reiterated its call for enhanced cooperation to counter terrorism and safeguard critical facilities. The statement concluded by underscoring the UAE’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalation and maintaining peace, while emphasising the need for collective international action to confront evolving security threats.
