US President Donald Trump is sending envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan to participate in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi this weekend, administration officials tell CNN. The Iranians have not confirmed they will meet with the US team. While Iran and the US remain far apart on some key issues, officials said Vice President JD Vance will be on standby to travel to Islamabad if talks progress. Trump has not given a timeline for resolving the Iran war, telling reporters, “Don’t rush me.” US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth railed against European allies, saying the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz “is much more their fight than ours.” Israel will continue striking “any threat” in Lebanon, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said Iran-backed Hezbollah is trying to disrupt the peace process during a three-week ceasefire extension.
