CAIRO, EGYPT – 2 August 2026 – The British University in Egypt hosted a ceremony honoring the highest-achieving students in Egypt’s 2026 national secondary school, or Thanaweya Amma, examinations, awarding them full scholarships to study at the University in partnership with the Mohamed Farid Khamis Foundation for Community Development. The ceremony was attended by this year’s top-ranking students from a range of disciplines, together with their families. Seventeen of this year’s top-ranking students subsequently applied to join the University, placing The British University in Egypt among the destinations most sought by Egypt’s highest achievers. The event was attended by faculty deans and academic staff, alongside families and current University students who were themselves among the top Thanaweya Amma graduates of previous years. The day’s programme included a guided tour of the campus and its 13 faculties, during which students explored the University’s academic offerings, laboratories, and advanced facilities, gaining first-hand insight into its diverse range of disciplines and learning environment. The students’ choice to join the University reflects its distinctive proposition of a British-style education built on the ‘learning by doing’ philosophy, delivered to UK academic standards and aligned with the needs of today’s labour market, through which every graduate earns two degrees: one validated by Egypt’s Supreme Council of Universities and one by a distinguished UK partner university. The student applications spanned nine faculties: Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Communication and Mass Media, Law, Informatics and Computer Science, Arts and Humanities, Economics and Political Science, and Business Administration. The University is the first in Egypt and North Africa to earn accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency, QAA, a mark of its adherence to the highest international standards of academic quality. Through its dual-degree model, graduates receive an Egyptian degree accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities, alongside a British degree from its partner universities, which include London South Bank University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Queen Margaret University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and Queen’s University Belfast, strengthening their ability to compete both at home and internationally. The scholarship offered by The British University in Egypt in partnership with the Mohamed Farid Khamis Foundation covers full exemption from all tuition fees, application file fees, administrative fees, service fees, and e-learning service fees. It also provides students with a monthly living stipend, along with University accommodation for those residing outside the governorates of Cairo and Giza, and transport to destinations across Cairo and Giza. The scholarship continues for the full duration of a student’s studies, provided they maintain a cumulative score of ‘Very Good’ or higher and observe all University and accommodation regulations.
