Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a five-kilometre expansion of Emirates Road on Sunday, August 30, adding two new lanes for traffic travelling from Sharjah towards the Wadi Al Amardi area. The expansion is aimed at increasing the road’s capacity and improving traffic flow on a key corridor connecting Dubai with Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.RTA said the project forms part of its ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai’s road network and improve its operational efficiency through long-term traffic solutions that support smoother journeys between the emirates. The project is also designed to accommodate the continued increase in daily travel between Sharjah and Dubai and meet future demand resulting from population and urban growth.According to RTA, the expansion reflects its strategy of developing Dubai’s major road corridors through proactive planning based on traffic studies, while providing a safe and sustainable mobility network capable of meeting the emirate’s future transport needs.
