ALBAWABA - The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, broke contact with her father last year, saying that she and the authorities knew he abused young girls in the past, according to the BBC.
In the warning letter, Meghan told 82-year-old Thomas Markle that he would never meet his grandchildren, 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet. Reports say that the letter was sent to Thomas while he was in hospital in the Philippines for a leg amputation operation.
This comes after Meghan's half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. told The Sun that he allegedly found a stash of child abuse images and videos in their father's former house in the Philippines. He also contacted the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about the accusations in July. In response, Thomas Markle denied those allegations, stating that he found the abuse pictures mixed up with innocent family photos.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, said she was "deeply distressed" by reports that her father, Thomas Markle, is under investigation by authorities in the Philippines for alleged possession of child abuse materials. Thomas Markle reportedly had denied the allegations against him. https://t.co/S7qT7yfEtm
Both the FBI and Philippine officials are aware of the issue. The Metropolitan Police also said that it's reopening an investigation.
The BBC says Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018, and the warning letter written in 2025 ended their relationship. The UK outlet added that the 82-year-old is reportedly residing in Florida, learning how to walk again at a rehabilitation centre after his leg amputation.
Meghan said in the letter that she's "deeply distressed" and that her "thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed."
