Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated nine industrial projects in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, operated by the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), with total investments of $84.5m and expected to create around 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. The projects span building materials and finishing products, furniture, textiles, artificial grass, chemical and mining industries, engineering and electrical products, as well as medical supplies and equipment. During his tour, Madbouly said the government is pursuing an integrated strategy to attract industrial investment based on modern technologies, while supporting local manufacturing, technology transfer and the development of competitive Egyptian products. He emphasised the importance of expanding domestic production, reducing reliance on imports and increasing exports, particularly in industries linked to construction and finishing materials, as well as other sectors experiencing growing demand as a result of Egypt’s large-scale urban and development projects. SCZONE Chairperson Mostafa Sheikhoun said the new openings reflect the continued expansion and diversification of the zone’s industrial base and demonstrate the success of its strategy to attract high-quality investments. He noted that the projects include new factories, expansions of existing facilities and initial operating phases of projects planned for further growth. The investments, he added, strengthen industrial integration, deepen local manufacturing and connect production facilities with SCZONE’s ports and international supply chains. Among the projects inaugurated was the first phase of Designy Doors, a manufacturer of wooden and WPC doors, finishing products, flooring accessories and wood-alternative wall cladding. The factory is being developed on a total area of 35,000 square metres, with targeted investments of $20m. Its first phase covers 15,000 sqm and represents $12m in investments. The factory is expected to produce 120,000 wooden doors, 168,000 WPC doors and four million linear metres of accessories and finishing products annually, while providing around 250 jobs. Madbouly also inaugurated B Shin Taishan Egypt for Building Materials Technology, which produces paper-faced gypsum boards and environmentally friendly PVC decorative ceiling tiles. The factory represents a $10m investment, covers 20,000 sqm and has an annual production capacity of 20 million square metres, creating approximately 50 jobs. Another project was White Stone Egypt for Mining, which produces coated and uncoated calcium carbonate used in plastics, paints, building materials and other industries. The factory represents a $5m investment on approximately 9,260 sqm, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes. It is expected to create 100 direct and 200 indirect jobs. The prime minister also opened Na Trans for Fertilizers and Chemical Industries, with current investments of $10m and an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes of phosphate fertilisers, including single superphosphate. The factory occupies 18,000 sqm and provides 140 direct and 350 indirect jobs. The company plans future expansion on an additional 28,000 sqm, with investments estimated at $45m. The expansion would raise phosphate fertiliser production to 375,000 tonnes annually and add annual sulphuric acid production capacity of 120,000 tonnes. Madbouly further inaugurated VIVATURF Artificial Grass Egypt, a $4m project established on 8,000 sqm, with an annual production capacity of three million square metres of artificial grass. The factory provides 140 jobs and exports its products to international sports facilities. The tour also included the inauguration of Lijialong Brush Co., which manufactures brushes, sealing strips, and door and window accessories. The factory occupies around 36,500 sqm, with investments of $10m and annual production capacity of up to 100 million metres. It provides approximately 70 jobs. Sheikhoun said the projects demonstrate SCZONE’s ability to attract specialised international investments and develop industries that provide inputs to other manufacturing activities, strengthening supply chains and increasing the competitiveness of products manufactured within the zone. Madbouly also toured the production lines at the factories and held discussions with workers to learn about their qualifications, working conditions and training. He stressed the importance of developing a skilled Egyptian workforce and transferring advanced technical expertise as part of Egypt’s broader industrial development strategy. The prime minister said SCZONE has become an integrated Egyptian platform for industry and logistics and a key pillar of the country’s economic development, supported by its strategic location, integrated ports and industrial zones, and advanced infrastructure.
