Mohamed Attia The Higher Committee for Security and Environmental Inspection (HCSEI), headed by Captain Sameh Fawzy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, conducted an inspection tour at Sphinx International Airport. the tour came in reponse to directives by Civil Aviation Minister Sameh el-Hefny to review security and operational procedures, assess readiness levels, and monitor the latest development and modernisation projects at the airport. Captain Wael el-Nashar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Airports Company, received the delegation, which included representatives from relevant ministries and authorities. The inspection visits reflect the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to continuously monitoring operational readiness across Egyptian airports and ensuring the implementation of the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency, in line with the steady growth in air traffic and travel demand. During the tour, the committee reviewed ongoing upgrades to the airport’s Baggage Handling System (BHS) within passenger terminals, including the installation of advanced screening equipment aimed at enhancing inspection efficiency, strengthening security measures, and accelerating baggage processing procedures. The committee also inspected the airport’s upgraded display systems, which are designed to improve the quality and accessibility of passenger information, in addition to reviewing operational procedures implemented to facilitate smoother passenger movement and reduce congestion. As part of efforts to enhance the passenger experience, the committee monitored a range of airport services, including the reorganisation of baggage areas and the development of passenger waiting zones to improve comfort and service quality. At the conclusion of the field visit, the committee toured the airport operations centre to assess the efficiency of operational and traffic management systems. The committee affirmed that the ongoing development works at Sphinx International Airport reflect the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strategy to upgrade operational systems, enhance efficiency, and further improve the quality of services provided in line with the evolving requirements of air traffic movement.
