U.S. President Donald Trump has offered the position of White House Press Secretary to prominent businessman and sports executive Dana White, in an unconventional move that has sparked widespread interest across political and media circles.
The public offer was made through the Truth Social platform, where Trump invited his longtime friend and powerful political ally to take over the management of the U.S. presidential media platform.
Dana Frederick White Jr. was born on July 28, 1969, in Massachusetts. His career began far from the political spotlight. Initially, he worked as a boxing coach and managed several fighters in mixed martial arts (MMA).
The major turning point in his career came in 2001, when he persuaded his childhood friend, businessman Lorenzo Fertitta, and his brother Frank to purchase the financially struggling UFC for just two million dollars. White became president of the organization and, through his bold marketing vision, transformed it from a marginal sport banned in some states into a global sports empire valued at billions of dollars.
Dana White's career is closely linked to a personal relationship with Donald Trump that spans more than two decades. In the early 2000s, when major venues and sports arenas refused to host UFC matches because of their violent nature, Trump was among the first to open his facilities and casinos in "Atlantic City" to host these championships, helping save the sport and establish its presence.
In return, White became one of Trump's most prominent political supporters. He frequently appeared as a keynote speaker at the Republican National Conventions during Trump's electoral campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2024, praising Trump's character and loyalty to his friends.
This close collaboration continued even after Trump's return to the presidency. An unprecedented political and sporting event took place in the summer of 2026, when the two collaborated to organize an extraordinary fighting event named "UFC Freedom 250," held directly on the South Lawn of the White House to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
The recent offer to appoint White as White House Press Secretary reflects Trump's desire to bring White's aggressive and direct media style to the presidency. Trump's offer was not limited to White alone. He also publicly invited him to bring a number of the organization's champions and fighters to join his new media team in Washington, opening a new and controversial chapter in the U.S. administration's media communication mechanisms.
