First Saudi school specializing in mathematics opens in Jeddah

RIYADH —The Ministry of Education and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in partnership with Al-Aqeel Charity, have launched a school for gifted students in mathematics in Jeddah. The school targets intermediate school students through a specialized enrichment program designed to develop their mathematical abilities and skills, deepen the impact of efforts to build human capital, and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The school is the first specialized mathematics school in the Kingdom dedicated to identifying and developing gifted students by providing enrichment content based on the highest international standards and practices. The ministry has opened online registration for the school, which aims to identify mathematically gifted students according to rigorous scientific criteria, establish global academic partnerships, provide advanced enrichment content based on the highest international standards, prepare scientific leaders capable of competing globally, and develop scientific research and projects under the supervision of KAUST experts. The ministry indicated that the school will officially open on August 30. It will offer a high-quality training program covering the intermediate and high school levels, in addition to intensive training exceeding 400 hours annually at the school and KAUST facilities. The school will also organize science camps during school holidays to further develop students’ science and mathematics skills both within and outside the Kingdom. The ministry stated that the school will also focus on enhancing students’ mathematical skills and abilities through specialized scientific tracks, including preparing them for international science and technology competitions and Olympiads. This will expand their opportunities to participate and excel in local and international competitions while helping them build strong academic records and competitive skills that qualify them for admission to the world’s leading universities.
