Egyptian armed forces conduct main phase of “Sumoud 4” command exercise

General Ashraf Salem Zahir, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, oversaw the main phase of the “Sumoud 4” command centers exercise conducted by the East Canal Counterterrorism Forces via video conference. The exercise, which spanned several days, forms part of the Armed Forces’ combat training plan and was attended by Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, branch commanders, and senior military leaders across field armies and military zones. The main phase included a presentation of the operational concept and decisions taken during the exercise’s management. Major General Hesham Fathi Shendi, Commander of the East Canal Counterterrorism Forces, expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces’ leadership for its continuous support, ensuring the forces remain at peak readiness for assigned missions. General Zahir conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s appreciation and pride in the dedication of the East Canal forces, commending their sacrifices in safeguarding national security. In parallel, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khalifa attended one stage of the exercise, reviewing reports from various specialties and engaging participants on the execution of their tasks. The exercise highlighted Egypt’s ongoing commitment to strengthening military preparedness and counterterrorism capabilities across strategic regions.
