Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held talks on Tuesday with the UK’s Minister of State for International Development and Africa, Baroness Jenny Chapman. The two sides discussed ways to enhance trilateral co-operation in Africa and support efforts aimed at promoting stability and development across the continent. During the meeting, Abdel-Aati commended the growing momentum in Egyptian-British relations, and stressed the importance of advancing bilateral ties across political, economic, and trade fields, while encouraging increased British investments in Egypt in the coming years. The Egyptian chief diplomat also outlined Egypt’s approach toward strengthening co-operation and integration with African countries through a focus on priority development projects and the transfer of successful national development experiences. On the Sudan, Abdel-Aati briefed the British minister on Egypt’s intensive efforts within the framework of the Quartet mechanism, underscoring the importance of swiftly reaching a humanitarian truce as a step toward a comprehensive ceasefire and the launch of an inclusive political process under full Sudanese ownership. He further underlined the priority of establishing safe humanitarian corridors and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, while reaffirming Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
