Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, held discussions with a high-level delegation from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of the World Bank Group on ways to advance development cooperation in Egypt. The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the MIGA mission’s co-ordination talks with several ministries and relevant government bodies, and explored ways to better leverage the agency’s guarantee instruments to accelerate the implementation of national development projects. The talks took place within the framework of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with international financial institutions and expand innovative financing tools in support of its development agenda under “Egypt Vision 2030.” At the beginning of the meeting, Rostom welcomed the MIGA delegation, commending the strong strategic partnership between Egypt and the World Bank Group. He stressed the government’s commitment to further advancing this partnership through flexible financing solutions, particularly in light of the recent launch of MIGA’s “Single-Window Guarantee Platform,” which consolidates guarantee products from both MIGA and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), facilitating more efficient access for member countries. The minister also outlined key government measures aimed at maintaining the momentum of economic reform, noting that, amid evolving regional and global challenges, Egypt places top priority on ensuring commodity supply stability, food security, and energy security. He further underlined ongoing coordination with international partners to mobilize financing mechanisms backed by strong guarantees, helping to secure essential imports and enhance the government’s ability to manage risks and hedge against market volatility. For their part, MIGA representatives expressed appreciation for Egypt’s ambitious economic reform program, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to supporting the country’s development efforts through tools that enhance transparency and promote greater competition among international financial institutions, in line with national priorities. Both sides concluded the meeting by reviewing prospects for future cooperation in major infrastructure projects being developed with regional and international partners, including leveraging MIGA guarantees to reduce financing costs and improve investment efficiency.
