Egypt outlines future of smart airports at WAGA 2026

Serving as Regional Advisor to ACI, Engineer Arab joined airport leaders and representatives from around the globe to discuss strategic issues, establish operational priorities, and define policies that support industry capacity development, growth, and long-term sustainability. Arab confirmed that participating in the World Governing Board entails a vital responsibility to convey the challenges and perspectives of Africa’s airport sector while contributing to the global dialogue on aviation’s future. He noted that representing the continent reflects the expertise of Egyptian professionals and reinforces Egypt’s pivotal role in fostering international co-operation. Aligned with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strategy, this participation aims to open new avenues for collaboration, strengthen Egyptian and African presence in specialised global forums, and support continuous airport development across the region. The high-level discussions brought together board members, regional advisors, World Business Partners, and ACI leadership to focus on strategic direction, capacity building, sustainability, digital transformation, and passenger experience enhancements. Additionally, Arab served as a keynote speaker in a panel titled “Investing in Smart Airports: National Strategies for the Future.” During the session, he highlighted Egyptian airports as a crucial regional hub for Africa and the Middle East, showcasing promising opportunities in infrastructure investment, cutting-edge technology adoption, and sustainable environmental practices. On the sidelines of the main assembly, Engineer Arab also engaged in several specialised technical board committees, ensuring African insights directly contribute to global standards and strategic solutions.
