Egypt Airports chief inspects development work at Alexandria, Hurghada airports

Mohamed Attia Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company Pilot Wael El Nashar, carried out surprise inspection visits to the Alexandria and Hurghada International Airports to monitor operations, review ongoing development projects, and ensure high-quality passenger services. At The Alexandria International Airport, El-Nashar inspected the upgrade of the SRK baggage handling system in Terminal 1, including the installation of Smith CT scanners and their integration with the airport’s operational network. El Nashar also reviewed work progress on modernising the terminal’s check-in counters, a project aimed at improving operational efficiency, speeding up passenger processing, and enhancing service quality. He also assessed the airport’s operational readiness and instructed officials to complete all projects on schedule while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency to support growing air traffic. At Hurghada International Airport, El Nashar toured the departure and arrival halls, reviewed daily operations and passenger flow, and inspected the expansion of the domestic departure hall in Terminal 2, which is expected to increase capacity and accommodate rising passenger numbers. The visit also included inspections of the main runway, secondary taxiways, and the Terminal 2 roof renovation project. El Nashar met with airport officials to review implementation progress and stressed the need to maintain construction schedules and strengthen coordination among work teams to ensure timely completion. The inspections are part of a series of field visits conducted by El Nashar to airports across Egypt to monitor development projects, improve operational efficiency, and enhance passenger services.
