Adnoc Targets 7.9M Barrels Per Day in Global Push

Overview:

Energy investments dominate the economic agenda across the Gulf and beyond, with the UAE positioning itself as a major international competitor in oil, gas, and renewable power. Meanwhile, regional equity markets advanced this week on investor confidence following easing regional tensions. Corporate earnings announcements from UAE-listed companies and international firms reflect mixed but generally positive operational momentum across multiple sectors.

Details:

The UAE's energy strategy is undergoing significant evolution. State-owned Adnoc has shifted from a domestic-focused model to become a globally competitive major energy producer, with production capacity currently at 5 million barrels per day and targets reaching 7.9 million. Parallel to this, Masdar is expanding its international renewable energy portfolio, reflecting the country's dual commitment to traditional and future energy sources. According to ratings agency Fitch, UAE oil production has fully recovered to pre-war levels, with broader Middle Eastern supply expected to normalize rapidly as regional stability improves.

At the corporate level, first-half 2026 earnings showed varied performance. Ras Al Khaimah Real Estate reported net profits of 67.7 million dirhams, down from 160.9 million in the same period of 2025. In contrast, Drake and Scull International achieved a stronger result, posting net profits of 9 million dirhams with 38 percent growth. Internationally, Berkshire Hathaway reported second-quarter operating profits of 12.98 billion dollars, representing a 16 percent increase, driven by strength in energy, railways, and manufacturing sectors despite weaker insurance results.

UAE equity markets experienced a notably positive week, with Gulf Cement rising 21 percent, ADIB gaining 10.65 percent, and multiple other listed entities advancing on improved investor sentiment regarding regional stability.

Outlook:

Investors are monitoring the sustainability of UAE energy expansion targets and the pace of international project execution. Market attention remains on whether regional geopolitical stabilization can sustain the current momentum in equity valuations and foreign investment inflows into Gulf energy and infrastructure sectors.
