Young man found dead following Zamalek’s 15th league title win

Security sources reported on Thursday that Cairo authorities have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man inside the Gezira Youth Center on Wednesday. The victim, Yassin Ashraf, was found dead after the conclusion of a football match between Zamalek and Ceramica Cleopatra, which saw Zamalek crowned champions of the Egyptian Premier League for the 15th time in their history. Sources said that initial investigations are underway to determine the cause of the young man’s death, and whether it resulted from a sudden heart attack triggered by stress, or from the aftermath of an altercation with another person inside the center following the match. The Public Prosecution has been notified to begin investigations, take statements from eyewitnesses present in the vicinity of the incident, and secure the center’s surveillance camera footage.
