You can now see the air taxi at Dubai’s Museum of the Future

Dubai: The future of mobility is now sitting inside the Museum of the Future, the new age of travel, which you could soon be using to fly across the city.A full-scale air taxi is now being showcased at the museum, offering visitors a glimpse into what daily travel in Dubai will look like very soon, as the electric vertical take-off aircraft is expected to cut travel time from an hour to minutes.In a video shared by the museum, Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said work on the air taxi project began around 2017 as part of Dubai’s wider ambition to anticipate the future of transportation.“The service aligns with the vision of the Dubai government and the wider vision of the UAE to anticipate the future of mobility and explore new possibilities,” Bahrozyan said.What will Dubai’s air taxi look like?According to Bahrozyan, the aircraft is designed to function much like a conventional taxi, except it flies.The fully electric vehicle can carry four people, including the pilot, and travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h. The project also ties into Dubai’s green mobility goals, with the aircraft producing significantly lower emissions compared to traditional transport systems.“In both travel time and distance, this will make a major difference,” he said.The initial phase of the network will include five stations across Dubai:Near Dubai International AirportDubai MallPalm JumeirahSheikh Zayed Road near American University in DubaiThe goal, Bahrozyan added, is eventually to expand the service beyond Dubai and potentially into global markets.First station already completedDubai has already crossed a major milestone in the project – last month, the RTA announced the completion of the first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport.
