Yemen’s Army Attacks the Houthis

The Yemeni military attacked the Houthis on Saturday in response to the militias’ recent strikes in central and eastern Yemen. Col. Majed al-Nazili, spokesperson for Yemen’s military, said the attacks targeted the Houthis’ “sites and capabilities” on multiple front lines. On Friday, United Nations envoy Hans Grundberg urged the parties to exercise restraint, saying that “Yemen today faces a greater risk of renewed large-scale conflict than at any point since the UN-brokered truce of April 2022." The Houthis increased attacks on government forces in the Marib province, east of Sanaa, on Friday, a day after launching a major ballistic missile and drone assault on military positions in Marib and Hadramawt.
