Why Dubai is becoming the global capital for wealth management

Sofia Bhatti, CEO of Wimbledon Wealth Management, confirmed that the choice of Dubai as a strategic headquarters for the company stemmed from the emirate’s growing status as an international financial centre and a global destination for wealth and capital.Bhatti explained in an interview with the MarcoPolis website that the company was established in the UAE in response to a gap she observed in the wealth management market, which is the prevalence of a commercial nature in some of the services provided, stressing that the company seeks to provide a different model based on consultations and long-term relationships, instead of focusing on marketing financial products. She said the company is working on building a specialised model that combines professional expertise with a close personal relationship with the client, particularly in a dynamic and diverse international environment like Dubai. Wimbledon Wealth pays special attention to managing the wealth of elite athletes, a segment with distinct financial needs, while the UAE offers an attractive environment for residency and investment for this group.Bhatti believes that athletes face exceptional financial challenges, as increased income during professional years does not necessarily guarantee long-term financial stability. She explains that an athlete's financial trajectory is often short and unpredictable, which means that investment and spending decisions made during peak years have an impact that extends well beyond retirement.
