Why does autumn make us anxious?

Human beings naturally seek stability, and any transition, even one that is natural and recurring, requires a period of adjustment. As the days grow shorter and exposure to light decreases, some people may experience changes in their sleep patterns, energy levels, and mood. However, according to Kattoub, autumn is not always the real cause. In many cases, the season simply becomes a time when postponed worries resurface: “How am I going to keep up? I have so much work. Last year was difficult, and it could happen again.” At that point, the anxiety is no longer really about autumn, but about what we expect from the months ahead and the pressure we carry with us into the new season.
