ALBAWABA - During a high-profile visit to Lebanon, Hossein Yekta, a senior member of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, sent a defiant message to Israel, saying that his side would eventually pray in Jerusalem.
Along with hardline cleric Alireza Panahian and other Iranian leaders, Yekta was a member of a senior Iranian delegation that traveled to southern Lebanon on October 1. Yekta is engaged in IRGC recruiting and ideological mobilization, according to analysts. Critical Threats: Yekta was seen in footage from the tour near the Litani River in southern Lebanon, when his comments attracted notice due to their significance and closeness to Israel.
Yekta compared the current conflict with Israel to earlier Iranian conflicts, citing Iran's conflict with former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. He recalled battling close to Basra before declaring that Israel will soon vanish and that young people would one day pray in Jerusalem, according to comments made by Iranian media.

The Critical Threats Project claims that Hezbollah has lost a large number of men, weapons, and infrastructure in its war with Israel and has become more dependent on Iranian leadership. Although it emphasized that the delegation's exact purpose is still unknown, the organization claimed that the Iranian delegation's composition and timing may point to an attempt to boost Hezbollah's reconstruction.
Critical Threats Yekta's background in recruitment and ideological indoctrination makes his presence more noteworthy. According to Critical Threats, he and Panahian both fought alongside Iran's current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, in the same unit during the Iran-Iraq War. Critical Threats At a time when Hezbollah is facing significant military and domestic strain, the visit highlights Tehran's ongoing political and ideological ties to the Lebanese organization.
There was no operational threat, target, or timeline for an attack against Israel in Yekta's words. Rather, he presented the possibility of reaching Jerusalem as a component of a larger fight against Israel, framing the conflict in terms of ideology and religion.
