US strikes southern Iran, naval units come under Iranian fire in Hormuz Strait

DUBAI: Iranian state media said Thursday that the country’s armed forces exchanged fire with “the enemy” on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Fars news agency said several sounds resembling explosions were heard near Bandar Abbas city. US President Donald Trump called the strikes a “love tap,” and said the ceasefire is still in place. The US military said that it intercepted Iranian attacks on three Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz and “targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for attacking U.S. forces.”
