ALBAWABA — US military air-defense systems have been deployed around President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, adding protection against drones and low-flying aircraft amid what the Secret Service describes as a heightened threat environment.
NORAD and US Northern Command confirmed that ground-based air defenses and counter-drone capabilities were deployed at the Secret Service’s request. Officials have not publicly identified a specific threat behind the decision.
Photographs show Avenger short-range air-defense systems near the waterfront property, including units positioned on a floating platform. Additional systems have been documented at the nearby airport used during Trump’s visits.
The Humvee-mounted Avenger carries two missile pods, each capable of holding four Stinger missiles. It is designed to engage short-range aerial threats, including aircraft, helicopters and drones.
🇺🇸 Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence is now protected by SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES.
And they're not taking any chances.
The U.S. military has positioned Avenger air defense systems on a floating barge beside the property, with additional units stationed near Air Force One's parking area at Palm Beach airport.
Each Humvee-mounted system can fire heat-seeking STINGER missiles at drones, helicopters and low-flying aircraft.
The Secret Service says threats against Trump are rising, while federal records show more than 160 airspace violations around Palm Beach since October 2025.
A presidential residence now has its own missile defenses, and Washington is considering making its restricted airspace PERMANENT.

Local broadcaster WPTV reported that the systems complement existing security measures, including fighter aircraft and airspace restrictions. Aviation specialists described them as a final defensive layer against threats approaching the protected area.
The deployment has attracted attention as Washington considers possible renewed military action against Iran. However, officials have not confirmed that the Florida defenses were installed in response to an Iranian threat.
The equipment was already documented in mid-October, meaning the images do not establish a deployment that began today. Avenger systems were also used to protect Trump during a visit to his Bedminster golf course in August.
