NEW YORK — UN Secretary General António Guterres and GCC Secretary General Jasem Albudaiwi condemned the Houthi militia's attacks on Saudi Arabia and their targeting of civilian sites. They underscored that these attacks pose a severe threat to regional peace and security. The leaders made the remarks during their meeting on Saturday on the sidelines of the GCC secretary general's participation in the meetings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Guterres and Albudaiwi discussed several topics, most notably reviewing bilateral relations and cooperation between the GCC and the United Nations and ways to strengthen and consolidate them in a manner that serves common interests. They also exchanged views on the latest regional developments, in addition to discussing a number of regional files and the efforts being made to address them. The UN secretary general commended the development, progress, and prosperity achieved by GCC member states and their regional and international efforts to enhance security and stability.
