Abu Dhabi: The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) held the Agentic AI Forum on Tuesday, August 11, as part of its plan to support a UAE Government strategic project aimed at transforming 50 per cent of government operations, tasks, procedures and services into models and systems powered by agentic AI within two years.The forum, held at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, was attended by Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP; directors-general and executive directors; as well as a number of senior officers, officials and employees of the Authority.Major General Al Khaili said the forum stems from the directives of the UAE leadership and its strategic national project, launched last April. He described it as an important step towards achieving the objectives of the government initiative to introduce agentic AI across service delivery and institutional support operations.He noted that ICP is not merely keeping pace with technological transformation in this field but is seeking to lead it across its areas of operation.Al Khaili said the forum helped align the vision across all levels of the Authority and established practical foundations for turning agentic AI into added value. This would enhance ICP’s future readiness and support its transition towards a smarter and more efficient operating model.He added that the forum’s discussions and outcomes represent an important step in shaping the next phase of ICP’s journey towards government operations driven by agentic AI. This includes building partnerships, anticipating opportunities and translating ambitions into practical initiatives that strengthen the Authority’s position among leading government institutions in the deployment of artificial intelligence.Business process re-engineeringDuring the forum’s opening address, Juma Abdullah Al Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of the Digital Transformation Sector and Lead of ICP’s Agentic AI Tracks, said the Authority continues to develop its institutional ecosystem not only by adopting the latest technologies, but also through business process re-engineering, empowering national talent, fostering a culture of innovation and building a work environment capable of harnessing the potential of AI across its operations.Al Kaabi said the transition towards agentic AI opens new opportunities for government institutions to enhance productivity, accelerate delivery, improve service quality and increase the accuracy of decision-making.It would also allow employees to focus on work that adds greater value, contributing to the development of a more agile, proactive and sustainable government.“ICP’s ambition is not limited to adopting artificial intelligence applications; it extends to building a new institutional model in which intelligent capabilities become an integral part of the workflow, a partner in decision-making and an enabler for achieving the highest levels of efficiency and readiness,” he said.Project tracks outlinedDuring the sessions, the leads of ICP’s Agentic AI project tracks presented the main features of the action plan, target sectors and anticipated outcomes.Brigadier Tariq Mohammed Bin Rabeea, Acting Executive Director of the Financial Resources and Administrative Affairs Sector and Team Lead of ICP’s Operations and Institutional Support Track, outlined the track’s targets, implementation phases and target sectors. He also discussed methods for measuring its impact and identifying opportunities for improvement.Colonel Dr Hamad Al Hindasi, representative of ICP’s Capability Building and Training Track, presented the track’s objectives, proposed partnerships for developing capabilities and training standards.Alia Obaid Al Falasi, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer and Team Lead of ICP’s AI Technologies and Data Track, highlighted the objectives and procedures for adopting AI agents within the Authority.She stressed the importance of establishing efficient and secure infrastructure and outlined policies and guidelines intended to standardise the criteria and controls required for the project’s success, in line with federal government standards.Saeed Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Government Services Department and representative of the Government Services Track, outlined the track’s vision, objectives, methodology and key deliverables.Captain Hamad Al Tuwail, Head of the Quality and Administrative Operations Section at the Strategy and Future Department and representative of the Strategic Government Work Track, discussed the UAE Government’s move towards agentic AI, its approved tracks and targets related to improving the speed and quality of decision-making.Social media captionThe UAE’s ICP is working to transform 50 per cent of its operations, tasks, procedures and services into systems powered by agentic AI within two years.
