UAE weather: Rain alert in Al Ain and eastern parts of the country as NCM warns of dust storms, rough seas

Dubai: Keep an umbrella handy if you're heading towards Al Ain, or anywhere else in the eastern or southern parts of the UAE, as the area is still affected by convective clouds causing rain.While most of the country is going to enjoy partly cloudy conditions in general, the eastern and southern parts of the country will see light to moderate rainfall, which may become heavy at times.The National Centre of Meteorology’s (NCM) weather alert informed residents of chances of rain in the area until 9pm today. You should also prepare for some other intense weather conditions, though, as the NCM has issued alerts for dusty and rough sea conditions.Keep the windows shut tightAccording to the forecast, winds reaching speeds of 40km/h are expected to blow up dust and sand, while reducing visibility, in open areas.The Met department urged motorists to drive safely and follow road rules. Residents, too, have been advised to lock all doors and windows to prevent dust from entering your home.Avoid going outdoors if you can, in areas where the conditions are particularly dusty.Rough sea alertWith the strong winds also stirring up waves reaching six feet in height, the NCM advised residents to avoid swimming, diving and other marine activities until Thursday evening.
