UAE weather forecast: Rain and hail hit eastern UAE as NCM issues yellow and orange alerts

Dubai: Watch out for hail and rain in certain parts of the UAE this evening.Falling hail and rain have caused wadis to flow in areas such as Masafi, Shuka, and Masili, in the eastern region of the country.The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow and orange alerts for parts of Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, and Ras Al Khaimah, urging the public to be prepared when heading outdoors, as inclement weather conditions are expected this evening. The NCM categorises the yellow alert as ‘Be Aware’, an advisory to stay cautious when participating in outdoor activities. The orange alert goes a step further and urges residents and visitors to ‘Be Prepared’ for hazardous weather events, and comply with advice issued by the authorities. Earlier today, the NCM also forecast convective cloud formation over eastern parts of the country until 7pm today. Convective clouds are associated with rainfall and fresh winds causing blowing dust and sand.The authorities advise the following guidelines when faced with such weather conditions:Take precautions when driving during rainfall.Stay away from areas of flash floods and accumulative rain.Avoid being in open or elevated areas during lightning and thunder.Be alert to downdraft winds that may cause loose objects to fall, and reduce horizontal visibility.
