Dubai: Sharjah, Masafi and eastern parts of the UAE are experiencing heavy rain and hail today, as convective clouds develop in the region.The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow alerts (‘Be Aware’) for southern regions of the country, like Asab and Hamim, and orange alerts (‘Be Prepared’) for parts of Al Ain, Nahil and further east, up to Fujairah.There are also reports of heavy rainfall and hail in areas like Masafi, Marbad, and other eastern and internal regions. According to the NCM, convective clouds can bring rainfall and fresh, strong winds reaching up to 40km/h that raise and blow dust. The authorities have cautioned that these clouds and associated rainfall may extend to areas like Sharjah, and internal areas like Al Ain, travelling westward.In such conditions, the authorities urge residents and visitors to take the necessary precautions, such as avoiding being in open or elevated areas during lightning and thunder, and driving cautiously due to reduced visibility.
