Dubai: If you are planning to relocate to Dubai, completing the medical fitness test is a key step in your residence visa application. This test is mandatory for all expatriates aged 18 and above.
In Dubai, medical fitness centres now operate under Dubai Health, the emirate’s first integrated academic health system. There are 20 centres across the city that provide health checks required for residence visa issuance and renewal, as well as occupational medical screening services.
To obtain a work or residence permit in the UAE, all foreign nationals aged 18 and above must undergo a medical fitness test to confirm they are free from communicable diseases such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Tuberculosis (TB).
The test includes three main steps: a physical examination, a blood test, and a chest X-ray. These screenings check for conditions such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, syphilis, and hepatitis.
Current UAE residents are also required to complete the medical fitness test when renewing their residency visa.
According to Dubai Health, there are 21 medical fitness centres in the emirate. These are:
Smart Salem Centres allow UAE residents to fast-track their residency visa process. While regular medical fitness test results are issued within 24 working hours, Smart Salem Centres provide results within 30 minutes.
Dh250 – Dh300: Regular Medical Fitness Service - results within 24 working hours)
Dh750: Regular Medical Fitness Service – results within 6 hours
Dh700: Smart Salem Centres - results within 30 minutes
