Dubai: Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, confirmed that with the sunset today, the last day of summer for this year ends, according to the meteorological or climatological concept, and the autumn season will begin climatologically in the northern half of the Earth starting tomorrow, September 1.Al Jarwan said: “The division of seasons meteorologically and climatologically depends on average temperatures during the months of the year, with autumn beginning at the start of September, winter at the start of December, spring at the start of March, and summer at the start of June,” noting that this division is used to facilitate the calculation of averages according to the year’s data in most countries of the world.He added: “This division differs from the astronomical seasons, which are determined according to the position of the sun’s perpendicularity to the earth, where autumn begins astronomically on September 23, winter on December 22, spring on March 21, and summer on July 21.”Al Jarwan pointed out that the country will witness a noticeable decrease in temperature starting from September, after the upper temperatures remained stable during most of the summer months at 42°C and above, and the lower temperatures at 29°C and above.He explained that temperatures will decrease during most of September, with recorded highs of less than 39°C and lows of less than 27°C, and will continue to decrease during most of October to less than 35°C (high) and 22°C (low), and then to less than 30°C (high) and less than 18°C (low) during most of November.
