Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy following the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed that prioritising diplomatic engagement and adherence to international law are essential to reinforcing regional security and stability. Call for full compliance The Ministry stressed the importance of full compliance with the provisions of the agreement, including ensuring an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities across the region. It also highlighted the need to respect the sovereignty of states, uphold the principles of good neighbourliness, and strictly adhere to international law. Ensuring stability and security MoFA emphasised the importance of protecting maritime routes and maintaining freedom of international navigation, including the uninterrupted flow of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry noted that these measures are critical to supporting security, stability and economic prosperity at both regional and global levels. Support for diplomatic efforts The UAE commended the diplomatic efforts led by United States President Donald Trump that contributed to reaching the agreement, as well as the role played by other countries and parties involved in the process. Commitment to continued dialogue The Ministry stressed the importance of continuing negotiations to build on the progress made and achieve sustainable outcomes. It reiterated the UAE’s support for all efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability through dialogue and diplomacy, describing them as the preferred means of resolving regional and international crises. The statement concluded by affirming that such efforts contribute to the interests of the peoples of the region and support broader opportunities for development and prosperity.
