Dubai: Whether you are a young student looking to teach, a homemaker looking for part-time work or a full-time employee exploring ways to earn an extra income, you can offer private tuitions in the UAE by applying for the private tutor licence issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). The free permit, introduced in 2023 under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, allows eligible UAE residents to legally provide private tuition. It is available not only to qualified teachers, but also to school and university students, unemployed residents, homemakers and employees working in the public or private sector. As long as you meet the eligibility criteria and hold valid UAE residence documents, you can apply online through MOHRE. If approved, the permit is valid for two years and can be renewed upon expiry. Here is who can apply, the documents you need and the step-by-step application process. Who can apply for a private tutor licence? Students aged 15-18 University students Unemployed Workers in the UAE’s public or private sector Teachers registered at public or private schools in the UAE Conditions and Requirements Student’s age must not be below 15 and doesn’t exceed 18. The form can be downloaded here: https://publicservices.mohre.gov.ae/Content/TemplateFiles/Agreement.pdf The agreement lays down the code of conduct that needs to be followed by private tutors, including: Disclosure of any conflict of interest is necessary, since it is prohibited for teachers to provide services directly to students affiliated with their schools. Confidentiality of information relating to students and parents must be maintained. In no case may students be subjected to violence, either verbally or physically. Avoid engaging in topics containing abnormal or extremist concepts or ideas that are inconsistent with the state's national identity. Remain professional with your students and refrain from inappropriate activity, such as sending them emails or images. Avoid physical contact. Be respectful of the traditions of the United Arab Emirates and maintain a modest public appearance. Read through the agreement carefully and then write your name and sign the document. Save the signed document on your system, as this will be needed to submit your application. How to apply Visit https://www.mohre.gov.ae/en/services/private-tutor-licensing and click on ‘start service’. Enter your Emirates ID number. The system will then send a one-time password to the registered mobile number (Emirates ID linked to the wrong mobile number? Click here to learn how you can change it. ) You will then be directed to the application form, with your personal details already entered as per the information linked to your Emirates ID . Select the courses that you would like to teach. The system offers over 350 options, from languages, to sciences to curriculum specific subjects. Next, select the category under which you wish to apply under – student, unemployed, worker in different sectors, teacher. Depending on the category you select, the system will refresh the required list of documents. Attach the correct document in each section, and finally attach the Private Tuition Agreement approval. Click on submit. What happens next Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by MOHRE. The processing time is five working days. If your application is approved, you will receive a work permit for two years, which can be renewed at the time of expiry. According to MOHRE, in case an application is rejected, you can resubmit the application after six months, after you have addressed the reasons it was rejected for.
