Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has announced the success of a new mediation effort between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, resulting in the exchange of 206 captives, with 103 released from each side.The latest exchange brings the total number of captives released through UAE-mediated efforts between Russia and Ukraine to 7,997, underscoring the UAE's continuing humanitarian and diplomatic role in the conflict.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) commended both countries for their cooperation with the UAE's mediation efforts and for their confidence in the UAE as a trusted international mediator.The ministry said the successful exchange is the 26th UAE-mediated prisoner swap since the outbreak of the conflict and reflects the strong relations the UAE maintains with both the Russian Federation and Ukraine.MoFA reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the crisis and reducing its humanitarian consequences.The ministry also stressed the UAE's determination to continue efforts that alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict, including initiatives supporting refugees and captives.The latest exchange is part of the UAE's ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, build trust between the parties and support international initiatives aimed at achieving peace and stability.
