Abu Dhabi: The UAE insurance sector continued to post strong growth in 2025, supported by increases in assets, investments, written premiums and profitability, according to data released by the Central Bank of the UAE.The sector's total assets reached AED165 billion, up by AED9.5 billion from the previous year, representing annual growth of 6.1%.Data showed that invested assets rose to AED96.4 billion, accounting for 58.4% of the sector's total assets, highlighting growing investment activity among insurance companies.Premiums reach AED75 billionThe value of gross written premiums grew by 15% year-on-year, reaching approximately AED75 billion, compared with AED65.1 billion in 2024.At the same time, insurance claims increased to AED46.2 billion, up from AED41.6 billion a year earlier, reflecting higher activity across different insurance segments.Profits jump more than 50%Insurance companies recorded a significant improvement in profitability during the year.Sector profits rose from AED2.6 billion in 2024 to approximately AED4 billion in 2025, representing growth of more than 53%.Health insurance drives policy growthThe total number of active insurance policies across all branches of the sector reached 17.3 million by the end of 2025.Growth was driven largely by the health insurance segment, which recorded a 26.1% increase in the number of policies following the implementation of mandatory health insurance.The expansion helped broaden the base of insured individuals and contributed to overall growth in the UAE insurance market.The latest figures underline the sector's continued expansion, supported by regulatory developments, rising insurance penetration and growing demand for insurance services across the country.
