Trump: We Have Not Delivered the “Knockout Blow” to Iran Because It Wants to Negotiate

Trump: Iran wants to reach an agreement, and we will see whether that is possible.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States had not yet delivered the “knockout blow” to Iran because Tehran wants to negotiate.

Trump stressed that “the biggest challenge is identifying the right people in Iran for Washington to negotiate with”.

Iran is currently facing a major crisis.

It can no longer afford to pay the salaries of its military forces.

Tehran is seeking to reach an agreement with the United States.

Trump indicated that military action could be an option to bring the matter to an end if negotiations fail.

On Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump said that “regime change in Iran is not a necessary condition to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon”.

He explained that “the primary objective is to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons, and this can be achieved without changing the country's political leadership”.

Trump’s remarks come as Washington continues to signal openness to negotiations while maintaining the threat of military force. He stressed that the United States does not necessarily need regime change in Iran to achieve its goal of preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, reflecting an approach that combines diplomacy with military pressure.
