Two elections, which both Trump and Netanyahu are seeking to get through with the fewest possible losses. The former fears that a Democratic blue wave could sweep through Congress, or at least the House of Representatives, leaving him constrained on many domestic and foreign policy agendas during his remaining two years in the White House. The latter is prepared to do everything to ensure that he remains in power, while opinion polls show that the leader of the “Yashar” party, Gadi Eisenkot, whom Netanyahu himself appointed chief of staff in 2014, is ahead of him.
