U.S. President Donald Trump headed to a polling center in Florida on Saturday to cast his early vote in the midterm elections, which are crucial to the direction of his second presidential term.
After voting, Trump responded to reporters' questions about corruption as a major issue for voters, saying it occurs in Democrat-controlled areas and cities.
Speaking from inside the polling center in West Palm Beach, near his residence in Mar-a-Lago, he said: "You need to look at the real corruption; it's the Democrats' corruption."
The Republican billionaire, who has long refused to concede his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, claiming without evidence that widespread fraud had taken place, made new allegations on Saturday, claiming that invalid ballots were present in Los Angeles, a predominantly Democratic city.
With ten days left until the midterm elections, which typically produce unfavorable results for the party occupying the White House, Trump faces declining poll numbers suggesting he could lose control of the House of Representatives and possibly even the Senate.
Without a majority in Congress, the 80-year-old president would have little room to maneuver in advancing his legislative agenda during the final two years of his term.
He could also face numerous congressional investigations from Democrats, who have expressed a desire to scrutinize business deals conducted by the president and his close associates through the family holding company since he returned to the White House.
