TGA impounds 3,449 vehicles, issues 11,107 warnings to violators in September

RIYADH — The Transport General Authority (TGA) has issued 11,107 warnings and impounded 3,449 vehicles and trucks for violating transport regulations during the month of September. These included 249 vehicles belonging to violators within Saudi airports. The authority detected as many as 94,321 violations during a total of 363,049 inspections of land transport activities carried out last month. The inspections are aimed at verifying compliance with regulations and requirements governing the sector, enhancing safety, and improving the quality of services provided to beneficiaries.The TGA stated that the major violations included operating without a driver's license; failing to meet safety requirements or using safety equipment unsuitable for the type of vehicle and the goods being transported; operating with an expired professional driver's license; operating a bus without an operating permit; and individuals undertaking preparatory activities for transporting passengers in private vehicles without a license.The activities that involve the highest number of violations included specialized transport, heavy goods transport for commercial purposes on behalf of third parties (establishments), private passenger transport by bus, and heavy goods transport for non-commercial purposes.The Makkah region topped the list of violations, recording 23,303 cases, followed by Riyadh with 22,266, the Eastern Province 16,709, Madinah 6,423, Tabuk 6,254, and Asir 4,464, alongside additional violations recorded across other regions.
