TGA: Electronic car rental contracts jump 4% to1.6 million in Q2 2026

RIYADH — More than 1.6 million unified electronic car rental contracts were issued to individuals across Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026, according to data from the Transport General Authority (TGA). The data showed a 4 percent increase in the number of contracts compared to the second quarter of 2025, reflecting the continued demand for car rental services and the expanding use of digital solutions in the sector. The authority confirmed that the unified electronic contract contributes to protecting the rights of both lessors and lessees, increasing the reliability of transactions, improving the quality of services provided, facilitating rental procedures, and enhancing the efficiency of operational processes in the car rental sector. According to the index issued by the Transport General Authority, the percentage of electronic contracts issued for car rental activity in the Riyadh region reached 33 percent, followed by the Makkah region 23 percent, the Eastern Province 14 percent, Asir 7 percent, Madinah 6 percent, Qassim 5 percent, Jazan 4 percent, and Tabuk 3 percent. The remaining 5 percent was distributed among other regions of the Kingdom.
