Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Ambassador Alaa Youssef said the agency has intensified its awareness activities on population issues across Egypt under the slogan “Together for a Stable Society and a Prosperous Future,” in co‑ordination with government bodies, particularly the Ministry of Health and Population and the National Population Council. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Youssef said the agency’s internal information centres organised 54 awareness events across various governorates during September, reaching 4,935 participants, including 3,626 women and 1,309 men. The campaign forms part of efforts to raise awareness of population issues, support state measures to manage population growth, and improve living standards for Egyptian families. He noted that the initiative focused on young people and newly married couples, reflecting the importance of building family and health awareness at an early stage and promoting accurate understanding of family planning and reproductive health issues. Activities included seminars, public meetings, discussion sessions and workshops conducted in co‑operation with government institutions and civil society organisations. According to Youssef, 23 per cent of the events were held at SIS information centres, while 77 per cent took place at government and community institutions to ensure wider outreach. Geographically, North and Central Upper Egypt recorded the highest number of activities with 13 events, followed by South Upper Egypt, the Canal and Sinai region, and Alexandria and West Delta, with nine events each. Greater Cairo hosted eight activities, while Middle and East Delta recorded six. Youssef added that the campaign also encouraged public participation, producing 20 recommendations and proposals from attendees aimed at improving future activities and responding more effectively to community needs. The SIS chairman stressed that addressing population challenges requires close co‑ordination between awareness efforts and the work of relevant state institutions, particularly the Ministry of Health and Population. He affirmed the agency’s commitment to expanding direct communication and digital outreach, while working with Al‑Azhar, the Ministry of Awqaf and the Egyptian Church to promote responsible family awareness and counter misinformation and misconceptions related to population growth.
