SHARJAH: Sharjah Police have arrested two individuals accused of stealing precious amber rosaries valued at more than $100,000 and recovered the stolen goods in full within 24 hours of receiving the report.The incident came to light after a report was filed at a police station by a Chinese national who said he had been robbed after advertising the amber rosaries for sale on social media platforms. According to the report, a man contacted the victim, expressing interest in purchasing the entire quantity. After arrangements were made to inspect the goods, the two suspects allegedly lured the victim to an area within the emirate, deceived him, and stole the merchandise before fleeing.Brigadier Dr Khalifa Balhai, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, said specialised teams immediately launched search and investigation operations upon receiving the report. These included collecting and examining evidence, analysing data and using modern security technologies to track down the suspects.He said intensive investigations helped uncover the circumstances of the incident, identify the suspects and monitor their movements accurately, leading officers to their location in a neighbouring emirate.Brigadier Balhai added that, through immediate coordination with security authorities in the neighbouring emirate, teams moved swiftly to the suspects' location, arrested them and recovered all the stolen goods in less than 24 hours.Sharjah Police said the swift resolution of the case reflects the readiness and efficiency of its security teams in handling criminal incidents. The incident also highlighted its use of modern technologies and data analysis to support search and investigation operations.Sharjah Police urged members of the public to exercise caution when conducting transactions involving valuables with unknown individuals through social media platforms. Officials advised residents to verify the identities of those they deal with and use safe and official channels to complete transactions.
