RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has denied claims that it approved a medicine derived from camel urine for the treatment of cancer. The clarification follows circulating claims that a medicine extracted from an active substance in camel urine had received SFDA approval and was effective in curing advanced stages of cancer. The authority clarified that the product in question is registered as a dietary supplement containing a mixture of vitamins and minerals that help meet the body’s daily nutritional needs. The SFDA stressed that the product’s use is limited to nutritional supplementation and that it has no approved therapeutic claims or authorization for use in treating cancer.
